This poster set is to promote a traveling exhibit called ‘It’s My Write: 3 Influential Writers’. It focuses on three famous authors: Mark Twain, Sylvia Plath, and Langston Hughes. These are some of the biggest names in literature during times of change in history. They all focused on very specific subjects in the majority of their work, so I wanted to highlight that by pulling out quotes from their own work. I wanted to keep it centered in text with the use of hand stamping and black and white only.

Research

Much exploration was done to experiment with type and making it more dynamic. We did physical type trials in a variety of methods. Shown on the left are my type experiments, followed by the vectorized version. I used techniques such as cutting out letters partially, pouring honey on the text, and using type on tape to get the natural curves.
